10th National Congress of Occupational Therapy and
III Iberian Congress of Occupational Therapy
The Portuguese Association of Occupational Therapists (APTO) is organizing the 10th National Congress of Occupational Therapy and 3rd Iberian Congress of Occupational Therapy National Congress of Occupational Therapy, in Matosinhos, at Exponor.
We hope that health professionals, especially Occupational Therapists, will participate in this event, which is expected to integrate innovative and consistent knowledge and experiences, leading to the promotion and development of Occupational Therapy.
Occupational Therapy has been growing progressively throughout its more than 100 years of existence and, although recent in the health area, when compared to others, it has its own body of knowledge, founded and supported by Occupational Science, which gives it a whole body of specific and unmistakable knowledge.
Occupational Therapy's visibility is clouded by the fact that its interventions are truly diverse, encompassing all types of people, of all ages, beliefs, genders, and with a wide range of health conditions. This characteristic is due to the fact that the occupational therapist works directly or indirectly on the person, the environment, or the occupation. This occupation encompasses play, the child, and the daily activities necessary for maintaining our health and survival, such as hygiene, nutrition, intimacy, leisure, and work.
It is a diverse world where occupational therapists seek to promote people's participation in activities they identify as essential to their well-being and health. This is our commitment, and we will do so with the professionalism and quality expected of a healthcare profession. Thus, "Occupational Therapy in the Future: Challenges, Innovation, and Transformation" is the theme of this conference, where we hope to see you there.
