10th National Congress of Occupational Therapy and
III Iberian Congress of Occupational Therapy
The Portuguese Association of Occupational Therapists (APTO) is organizing the 10th National Congress of Occupational Therapy and the 3rd Iberian Congress of Occupational Therapy, in Matosinhos, at Porto - Exponor.
We hope that healthcare professionals, especially Occupational Therapists, will participate in this event, which is expected to integrate innovative and consistent knowledge and experiences, leading to the promotion and development of Occupational Therapy.
Occupational Therapy has been growing progressively throughout its more than 100 years of existence and, although recent in the health field when compared to others, it has its own body of knowledge, grounded and based on Occupational Science, which gives it an unmistakable specificity.
The visibility of Occupational Therapy is obscured by the fact that its intervention is highly diverse, encompassing all types of people, of all ages, beliefs, genders, and with the most varied health conditions. This characteristic is due to the fact that the occupational therapist acts directly or indirectly on the person, the environment, or the occupation. This occupation includes play in children, and daily activities necessary for maintaining our health and survival, such as hygiene, eating, intimacy, leisure, and work.
It is therefore a diverse world where occupational therapists seek to promote people's participation in activities that they identify as essential for their well-being and health. This is our commitment, and we will do so with the professionalism and quality expected of a health profession. Thus, “Occupational Therapy in the Future: Challenges, Innovation and Transformation” is the theme of this congress, where we hope to count on your participation.
